O.B.F.O.B.F.

O.B.F., adică Rico şi G. vin direct din Franţa şi Elveţia şi au început să colecţioneze muzică spre sfârşitul anilor ’90, aria lor de selecţie întinzându-se între roots reggae şi dub-ul britanic.

Ulterior, cei doi au realizat că pentru a putea susţine show-uri de calitate în Geneva şi localurile tip underground din Franţa ar avea nevoie de un soundsystem puternic. Planul a fost pus rapid în aplicare, iar la începutul anilor 2000 O.B.F. se puteau lăuda cu propriul soundsystem construit întocmai după moda celor jamaicane şi britanice.

Următorul pas pentru a ajunge în top a fost acela de a-şi crea propriul sound, propriul stil, Rico şi G. fiind conştienţi de faptul că doar aşa ar putea deveni unici în lumea DJ-ilor. Astfel, în prezent, O.B.F. creează muzică prin intermediul a tot felul de tobe şi sintetizatoare, mixând roots reggae cu sunete digitale. O.B.F. au venit astfel cu ceva nou în lumea dub-ului francez, reîmprospătând puţin atmosfera în această zonă.

Rico şi G. sunt producători, selecta şi operatori de soundsystem, iar ceea ce fac ei ar putea fi descris drept conscious bass music. O.B.F. reprezintă la petreceri tip dj set unde trec uşor de la dancehall la sound system culture, dar mai ales la petrecerile tip soundsystem unde mixează roots şi culture music, cu alte cuvinte muzică plină de bass combinată cu un mesaj tip conscious.

O.B.F. au fost invitaţi până în prezent la festivaluri importante din Europa dedicate culturii bass şi muzicii reggae cum ar fi Outlook, Summer Reggae Fest, Woodstock Festival sau Rototom, iar în vara lui 2012 sunt prezenţi şi în România cu ocazia Subsonic.

Trecând la partea discografică trebuie să începem cu piesa Wicked Haffi Run înregistrată împreună cu Dan Man în 2010 pe care vă invităm să o ascultaţi în continuare.

O.B.F., meaning Rico şi G. come straight from France and Switzerland and have started to collect music at the end of the ’90s, their area of selection being extended between roots reggae and british dub.

Consequently, the two realized that for being able to sustain quality shows in Geneva and the underground pubs in France, they needed a strong soundsystem. The plan was fast applied, and at the beginning of the 2000s, O.B.F. could take pride in their own soundsystem built exactly by the trend of those Jamaican and British.

The next step for reaching the top was that of building their own sound and style, Rico and G. being aware of the fact that this is the only way to become unique in the world of DJs. Thus, at present, O.B.F. create the music using all sorts of drums and synths, mixing roots reggae with digital sounds. This way, O.B.F. have come with something new in the world of french dub, refreshing a bit the atmosphere of this zone.

Rico and G. are producers, selecta and soundsystem operators, and what they do can be described as conscious bass music. O.B.F. are representing at dj set where they pass slowly from dancehall to sound system culture, but especially at the soundsystem based parties where they mix roots and culture music, in other words, music full of bass combined with a conscious message.

O.B.F. have been invited so far at important festivals in Europe dedicated to the bass culture and to the reggae music such as Outlook, Summer Reggae Fest, Woodstock Festival or Rototom, and in summer 2012 they are present in Romania too with the ocasion of the Subsonic festival.
